What to add to your trolley:

  • 1 tsp extra virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 thumb-sized piece fresh Turmeric, grated
  • 1 thumb-sized piece fresh Ginger, grated
  • 3–4 fresh Tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 Green pepper, diced
  • 1 cup Mushrooms, sliced
  • 500g lean beef/ostrich Mince 
  • 1 bottle Italian Passata
  • 1 tsp smoked Paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: fresh herbs like parsley or coriander for garnish

How to prepare the deliciousness:

1. Sauté aromatics:

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft, then add garlic, turmeric, and ginger. Cook 1 minute. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes until softened.

2. Add mince & vegies:

Stir in mince and cook until browned. Add diced green pepper and mushrooms. Cook for 3–5 minutes until slightly softened.

3. Combine:

Pour in passata, add smoked paprika and salt. Simmer gently for 20–25 minutes until rich and flavourful. 

4. Garnish and Enjoy:

Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm. 

Pair with a side of steamed broccoli or cauliflower mash.
